A '''colony''' is any territory of the Principality which has not yet been fully integrated into the state as one or more permanent administrative divisions, such as [[Province|provinces]]. Colonies are thus transitory entities existing between when the territory has been acquired and when full sovereignty is established. [[Colonial Government|Colonial governments]] exist to facilitate this transition, starting out with their institutions and organizations adapted to meet the colony's unique needs and over time morphing into a form of government more in line with that administrative division which the colony is to become.
